President: June MacNairn
June was born on the Miramichi and moved to Riverview where she began her teaching career. She obtained her BA, BEd, and M Ed all from UNB. She taught for 33 years Grades 6-12 in the Greater Moncton area. The highlight of her professional career was being President of the NBTA 1999-2001. Her interests include: playing bridge, golfing, reading, exercising and loving her two Persian cats - Garfie and Barney. She feels as President of NBSRT, she has a fit, as she has long been an advocate for teachers.

1st Vice-President: Wayne Spires
Wayne taught for 32 years at Stanley, Burtts Corner, St Stephen, and Pennfield. Married to Beverley for 42 years, Wayne has three adult daughters - Tami, Tina, and Sarah. He has been heavily involved with the Charlotte Branch of the NBSRT, serving in various capacities from 2000 to 2016. From 2016 to 2018, he served on the provincial executive of the NBSRT as the Second Vice President, and is now beginning a two-year term as First Vice President. Wayne's primary interests as a member of the executive are senior wellness and pensions.

2nd Vice-President: Barry Harbinson
Born and raised in Birchton, Quebec I did a gap year in Ottawa prior to attending UNB in Fredericton. After completing my BA and BEd I was fortunate to be offered a position at Saint John High School. Although I remained at the same school for thirty three years, I varied my career through changing subjects and administrative positions. Throughout my professional life, I was actively involved with the District 0820 NBTA as a school rep and held several executive positions. After retirement, I became involved with the NBSRT SJ serving on the executive for the past nine years. Provincially, I have served on several committees prior to being elected to my new role as second vice-president. I look forward to the challenges facing the executive as we consider the needs and demands of our membership.

Past President: Margaret Urquhart
Marg enjoys travel, walking her dog, book and bridge clubs, summer on the Bellisle and, of course, time with family and friends in retirement. She thoroughly enjoyed her 32 year career in Saint John, joined NBSRT on retiring and is involved locally and provincially. Being a member of NBSRT has provided a wonderful and rewarding opportunity to meet, enjoy time with and work with NBSRT members across the province. Their dedication to the well-being of all retirees is evident in all they do. The privilege of attending meetings of the Canadian Association of Retired Teachers (ACER-CART) provided the opportunity to meet and share ideas with retiree representatives from across the country and appreciate how much we have in common. She looks forward to her continued involvement with the Executive on behalf of retired teachers.

Treasurer: Paulette Moore
Paulette taught first at Minto High School for two and one half years and transferred to Fredericton High School where she taught for ten years. She became employed as Director of Finance and Administration for the NBTA in 1985 and retired in 2002. She has served on the following Boards:

NBTA Board of Directors - 18 years
Children's Wish Foundation - 7 years
Risk Management Agency Board - 9 years
Muriel McQueen Ferguson Foundation Board - 6 years
NBTA Credit Union Board - 9 years

She has also served on various committees over the years both for NBTA and the Canadian Teachers' Federation. After retirement she was part of a team of three that developed a project in Uganda called TAG (Teacher Action for Girls). This project involved five phases of development between 2002 and 2008.

Membership Secretary: Dale MacRae
Dale is a "Miramichier" who taught for 33 years at Harkins Junior High School and Miramichi Valley High School. Although his preference was history related subjects, he spent the second half of his career as a technology specialist and as a CISCO instructor. He also has over 40 years of experience as a private and commercial pilot, and 10 years of service as a member of the Canadian Military Reserve Force. Currently, he serves with the Civilian Air Search and Rescue Association as a search coordinator and navigator. Dale has been a member of the Miramichi Area Retired Teachers Association since his retirement in 2005, and has served as the Provincial Membership Secretary since 2015.

Secretary: Jeannie Matthews
Jeannie Matthews was born in Fredericton where she lived until she accepted her first and only teaching position at Carleton North High School in Bristol. She had the unique opportunity of beginning her teaching career in 1977 at a brand new high school where she remained in the same classroom C116 although in four different school districts until her retirement in 2007. She received her B.A., B. Ed. and M.Ed. from UNB. During her teaching career she was heavily involved in various NBTA/NBTF activities serving in such capacities as P.D. Chair, Branch President, Director and was a member of several committees, both locally and provincially, including Grievance, Gender Equity, Pension, Professional Development.

One of her most satisfying commitments was her nine years serving on the NBTA Credit Union Board of Directors, the last four as Chair. She is the widow of the late Weldon Matthews, a fellow English teacher at CNHS, and a noted drama teacher and playwright, and she appeared as a minor character in a few of his Centreville Community Theatre shows. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, listening to music, attending concerts and tutoring high school students in English.
